BEIJING -- The friendly relations would benefit peace and development in Asia and the world as whole, said a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday.

"Sino-Vietnamese friendly ties will ensure the prosperity and development of the two countries, and benefit the peace and growth of Asia and the world," said Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

Zhou told visiting Tong Thi Phong, the secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), that China would work with Vietnam to push forward the good-neighborly relations.

Zhou stressed the two nations should view the relations from the strategic height and long-term perspective to realize the common ground reached by the leaders of the two countries.

Tong Thi Phong, also vice chairwoman of the National Assembly, said that China had summarized the experience on opening-up and reform, as well as in building up the socialist market economy, and Vietnam would like to learn from China.
